چکیده
Increases in sedentary lifestyle and high calorie food consumption, among other factors, have contributed to epidemic levels of childhood obesity in the United States.1 Children who are overweight during the preschool period are more likely to become overweight adolescents and obese adults.2 In fact, a rapid gain in body mass index (BMI) in early childhood has been shown to affect adulthood mortality and morbidity.3 Therefore, it appears that common forms of obesity often have their roots in childhood. Yet, the biologic processes underpinning the connection between childhood and later adulthood obesity are unclear. The body attempts to maintain stability through change. It does this every minute of every day by maintaining narrow set points, such as body temperature through homeostasis, while more dynamically regulating large systems, such as the cardiovascular system (CVS); immune system; sympathetic nervous system (SNS); metabolic system; hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis (HPA axis); and central nervous system (CNS). This concept is called “allostasis.” Allostasis is a multifactorial biomarker model that captures the complex regulation and relationship between multiple

Totally Transanal Laparo-Endoscopic Single-Site ProctoColectomy-Ileoanal J-Pouch (TLPC-J): An Experimental Study of a Novel Approach
Background: The natural orifice transluminal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) has become a commonly considered novel approach in the surgical field. The NOTES provide possibility of operation through the natural orifice and decreases the intentional puncture of the systemic organ and subsequent complications. Totally transanal laparo-endoscopic single-site proctoColectomy-Ileoanal J-Pouch (TLPC-J) is...
متن کاملAccuracy of obesity indices alone or in combination for prediction of diabetes: A novel risk score by linear combination of general and abdominal measures of obesity
Background: The predictive power of obesity measures varies according to the presence of coexistent measures. The present study aimed to determine the predictive power of combinations of obesity measures for diabetes by calculation of a linear risk score. Methods: Data from a population-based cross-sectional study of 994 representative samples of Iranian adults in Babol, Iran were analyzed. Me...
متن کاملModulation of Serum Vaspin Level by Diet Regimen in Obese Diabetic Female Patients
Obesity was associated with high serum vaspin concentrations and increased vaspin mRNA expression in human adipose tissue , insulin resistance, and type II diabetes. However, the mechanisms how vaspin secretion may be linked to deterioration of glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity are not understood. The aim of this work is to explore the effect of dietary regimen for 6 months on serum va...
متن کاملIdentification of miR-24 and miR-137 as novel candidate multiple sclerosis miRNA biomarkers using multi-staged data analysis protocol
Many studies have investigated misregulation of miRNAs relevant to multiple sclerosis (MS) pathogenesis. Abnormal miRNAs can be used both as candidate biomarker for MS diagnosis and understanding the disease miRNA-mRNA regulatory network. In this comprehensive study, misregulated miRNAs related to MS were collected from existing literature, databases and via in silico prediction. A multi-staged...
متن کاملA review on the relation between obesity and vitamin D with pediatric asthma, and a report of a pilot study in Tehran, Iran: review article
Asthma is an inflammatory and chronic disease that affects about 300 million people globally. The disease is more common in developed countries. The increase in the prevalence of asthma is not only due to genetic factors, but also to many environmental factors related to urbanization and type of nutrition. It has been reported that obesity is an independent risk factor for asthma and obese chil...
